MASSIMO OSTI STUDIO CHAPTER 08 BY SCOTT KING

Massimo Osti Studio presents Chapter 08, in collaboration with contemporary artist Scott King, renowned for his provocative graphic style, critical outlook on social themes, and work with leading independent British magazines.

The Chapter introduces a limited-edition ‘anti-slogan t-shirt’, produced in just 100 pieces and made in Italy, exploring the graphics as a tool for expression, critique, and reflection.

For this project, King immersed himself in the Massimo Osti Archive, studying the Italian designer’s unconventional graphic approach characterised by tracing paper, experimental printing techniques, and pop art influences. A natural synergy emerged:

both King and Osti drew on pop art aesthetics, transforming them into tools for communication and critical reflection.

Packaged in a transparent vacuum-sealed bag, the

t-shirt features a text by King printed on the back, focusing on the ‘forgotten cultural worker’, an artist excluded from the system, contrasted with peers who succeed through visibility, networking, and institutional alignment.

Each piece includes a signed and numbered double-sided poster (50×70 cm) with a second text by King, reflecting on the artist’s shifting role within today’s cultural landscape, where resistance often gives way to collaboration and the artistic output becomes a marketing tool for institutions.
