Barcelona, 16 June 2026 – On 15 June, the Palau Reial de Pedralbes hosted the 22nd edition of “Fashioners of the World”, the annual international fashion show presenting 25 collections by the new generation of fashion designers from IED Barcelona. The event forms part of the public programme of activities celebrating 60 years of Istituto Europeo di Design. More information at https://www.ied.edu/60-years
In an exclusive event attended by professionals from the creative industries and specialised press, the proposals by final-year students from the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design received a standing ovation for their extraordinary blend of technical virtuosity and creativity. Meticulously crafted, the garments offered a vibrant visual spectacle combining technological innovation with craftsmanship, respect for heritage, inclusion and sustainability, confirming the excellent level of training acquired by students at the IED Fashion School, where design with a conscience has an impact beyond a purely aesthetic or seasonal dimension.

At the end of the show, an international jury made up of leading figures from the sector presented the traditional “Fashioners of the World” awards. The winning collections were:
• Franca Sozzani Best Fashion Collection Award
Presented by Daniel Face, Director of Red Eye Magazine; Sergio Plaza, Creative Director at Lupo; Stevie Cannell, Projects + Partnerships at 1 Granary; and model and author Verónica Blume, President of the Jury.
Winner: Jon Navales with “Unsent”
An emotionally driven menswear collection that explores intimacy and sensitivity through the lens of vulnerability. Drawing on Napoleonic and military references in neutral tones, and combining wool with fluid fabrics, the looks create a coherent dialogue between tradition and modernity.
“An exquisite collection distinguished by the high quality of its garment construction, the careful selection of fabrics and colours, and the way everything comes together with remarkable sensitivity.”
• Isabel Coixet Best Fashion Film Award
Presented by Isabel Coixet, filmmaker.
Winner: Carla Àvila with “La intimidad como performance”
A work that reflects on the culture of exposure, where the weakened boundary between the public and the private has turned simple gestures and domestic actions into public scenes.
“For having told something very rich and profound about life and intimacy.” Isabel Coixet

• Manuel Outumuro Best Shooting Award
Presented by Manuel Outumuro, photographer.
Winner: Carmen Celedonio with “Rigor Mortis”
An autumn-winter womenswear collection that proposes an emotional introspective journey. Its garments explore the duality between fragility and strength through sculptural silhouettes, organic materials and an intense colour palette based on off-white, red and black tones.
“Evocative images that transport us to an autumnal setting inhabited by highly expressive lights and shadows.” Manuel Outumuro
• Jordi Labanda Best Fashion Illustration Award
Presented by Jordi Labanda, illustrator.
Winner: Natalia Tselousova with “LIMINAL”
The sense of insecurity generated by sleep paralysis is the conceptual starting point for a womenswear collection articulated through the contrast between rigid forms and soft, fluid materials. It features multilayered compositions that constrict the body and transparent elements that create the sensation of a dissolving silhouette.
“Natalia has the makings of a classic illustrator, with great anatomical talent. Her sinuous and elegant figures recall the work of great geniuses of the 1980s such as Antonio López, or the work of photographer Serge Lutens, where the model’s body becomes an evocative dream.” Jordi Labanda
• IEDxCommons Impact Award
In addition, for the third year running, the IEDxCommons Impact Award was presented to the collection with the greatest impact in terms of sustainability, responsible use of technology, heritage value, inclusion, proximity and mastery of craft. The award was presented by stylists Fermin+Gilles and Clara Mallart, PhD Fashion Sustainability, consultant, researcher and IED alumna.
Winner: Simran Niraj Madlani with “Taste in Art”
A menswear and womenswear collection that questions whether good taste is synonymous with privilege. It features tie-dye prints presented as animal prints, as well as textures considered luxurious when worn by the upper classes, but which often go unnoticed when used by Indigenous peoples.
“A very complete project that has addressed ethics and sustainability from both a material and social perspective.”
• Fashion, fragrances and flavour in a unique evening:
For the third consecutive year, “Fashioners of the World” had its own perfume, created exclusively by MANE, the leading French group and one of the world leaders in the fragrance and flavour industry. MANE also co-created, in collaboration with fashion students from IED Barcelona and IED Milano, four additional perfumes for four looks that were displayed during the event, together with a small photographic showcase of the advertising campaign proposal for each fragrance.
Attendees were also able to visit an exhibition of portfolios by students from the Degree in Fashion Design, Styling and BA (Hons) in Fashion Design.
In addition, courtesy of Joan Escribà, guests at “Fashioners of the World” were able to enjoy an exclusive first tasting of his new rock chocolate. The packaging design for this sweet creation, winner of a Gold LAUS award, is the work of Visual Arts alumnus Xabier Isasti.
